When looking for an exotic holiday escape to revive and restore, Thailand usually tops the list. With its sapphire blue sea, white sand beaches and tropical forest it is easy to see why the South Island of Koh Samui is one of the most popular vacation locations in the country.

You may find n number of luxury resorts in Koh Samui for your stay cation and while planning one for our stay, we were contemplating as well. But, we wanted to stay in a secluded area, away from the usual Koh Samui crowd and that’s when we stayed here using extra vacations (first time using RCI). And, a recent visit to Saboey resort and Villas so charmed us – we had to tell you about it.
The Resort
Set on a tropical, with its beach views, the Saboey Resort and Villas perfectly balances in with its spectacular natural environment. Saboey is a beautiful, secluded resort in the lovely island of Koh Samui in Thailand, designed to maximize serenity, space and privacy.

It is a boutique resort in Koh Samui, offering a stunning experience to make you stay more memorable. When we arrived at Koh Samui airport, Saboey’s shuttle driver was already waiting for us to take us to the hotel. At check-in, we were offered a cold towel, juice, and a flower necklace which I especially loved it.

Saboey is a friendly retreat, where the service is personalized and attentive, yet modest, so that you can indulge in the ultimate in relaxation and pampering. It is a tiny boutique hotel with only 21 rooms, right on the beach in Bangrat. You can see the Big Buddha from the beach & the resort has beautiful views of the sea, mountains & full moon island.
Location
Pros: This resort is nestled on the beautiful island of Koh Samui right on Bangrak Beach, and a ten-minute drive from the Samui Airport.Located in the North-East of the island on Big Buddha Beach, a 4km crescent of white sand and azure waters, the resort is conveniently located close to the airport, 5 minutes away from Fisherman’s Village/Bophut, a laid-back village with a good selection of restaurants and bars and only 10-15 minutes away from the busy tourist center of Chaweng. Massage parlors are right opposite to the resort and if you need provisions, there’s a 7/11 just across the street.

Cons: Since, this resort is quite and at a secluded area of Bangrak, you will really get any tuk-tuk’s or cabs easily to travel to nearby beaches. You can request for a tuk -tuk at the reception and they will book it for you at the given time. Usually, Tuk -Tuk charges TBH 200-250 till Chaweng beach.
Rooms
Saboey resort has around 21 rooms segregated in Suites, Garden Villas, ocean villas and Penthouse villas. We were in Garden view room which was around 55sqm in size with some extra room. This kind of villas can be suitable for families of 3 (2 adults and 1 child). Located amidst the tropical gardens of the resort and featuring private balconies, just behind the Ocean Villas and yet still only moments away from the Pool. Since, this is a boutique resort, Pool and beach wasn’t long away from our room. The villa accommodations are spacious enough, exquisitely decorated, and feature modern amenities.

All villas and suites consist of one bedroom with king-size bed and one bathroom and can accommodate two adults and one child under seven years of age. Extra beds can be added in all rooms apart from the Ocean Villas and are available upon request.

Beach Villas are the largest of all villas in the resort and the rooms and are located directly in front of the sea, on each side of the resort. Giving you some stunning views of an Indian ocean, there’s a spacious terrace for your private dining experience. This is the most idyllic villas for couples to romantic indulgence.

There’s a beautiful pool facing the beach, in case you prefer to swim laps instead of splashing in the sea.

Dining
Pros: The resort has a bar next to the pool and you can enjoy your drinks and fast food by the pool watching the waves crashing in the sea. In fact, we had a few cocktails at Saboey & they were all excellent. Their ‘happy hour’ at Saboey lasts from 4pm to 8pm so that’s something we looked forward to in our stay. They don’t have many Vegetarian food options though. However, Upon request, they made vegetarian pizza ‘s and pasta’s for us which was really delicious.

All-day dining available from 07:00 until late, where you can enjoy sea views at breakfast and lunch through to candlelit romantic dining to the sounds of the waves in the evening.

Cons: Breakfast is included & a – la carte from the menu & they offer an American breakfast with fruit, choice of eggs, sausage, bacon, tomatoes, baked bean, potatoes, toast & jams & tea or coffee. However, since we are vegetarians, Breakfast put us little off as they did not have anything vegetarian in the breakfast. so, we had to just step out in the morning eating fruits and cereals.
Facilities
Saboey Resort &Villa’s isn’t one of the luxurious resort, however, they provide the facilities one would require during their stay.

Free Wi-Fi, Laundry, Room service, Tour Desk , Car Hire (city tour) are name to few that they provide. You can book for Spa services with comes with surcharge. They will also book airport shuttle for you with around TBH 600-800. They will also help in booking the day tours for you to do a sightseeing with plenty of options.
