2. Try to Be Safe

You must make sure you are as safe and sensible as possible when you go travelling. If this is something you’ve not done before there might be a bit of naivete involved, and you need to make sure you prepare. This means avoiding solo travel if you’re inexperienced, always keeping in touch daily with someone, and only booking through reputable sources.

You also should think about any medical conditions you might have that are going to impact your journey. Make sure you are fully insured before you step on the plane, as the last thing you want is to have to fork out for medical expenses abroad!

3. Make Sure You Understand Cultural Differences

The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of cultural differences you’re going to encounter when you head abroad, and you’ve got to try to be Au fait with these. Understanding these differences gives you better knowledge of the way people are, and why certain customs are the way they are.

It is also important for ensuring you don’t offend people or getting into any problems while you’re there. Understanding someone else’s culture is essential for having a more fulfilling and immersive trip.

  2. These are all great points for someone planning their first adventure! These tips would’ve been handy back when I was planning my trip to Ireland which was my first time going internationally.

  3. I couldn’t agree more! Especially stressful/language barrier airports!! Ah some awful experiences- but learning experiences as well!
